Observing hundreds of properties in the Conroe-Willis area go from dense forest to forever homes and thriving businesses has been eye opening.
Iron Star Land and Brush is a partnership between friends who love the native landscape of the Piney Woods and have a passion to serve others. As this area grows, our goal is to help property owners with the future vision of their land and make that a reality.
Corey and Jim relocated from the Houston suburbs to enjoy the peace and freedom of the Piney Woods. After spending several years here and learning what it takes to create and maintain homes and property in acreage communities, we are excited to help newcomers, established residents, and businesses get the most from their property while staying true to the natural beauty of the area.
Meet the Team
Corey Newsom
Co-Founder
I’m a native Texan, Christian, husband, and military brat. I’m also the proud father of two adult sons, one a mechanical engineer and the other a U.S. Marine.
I learned to operate and maintain equipment on a family farm in West Texas where I also worked my way through college. After graduating from Texas Tech University, I spent more than 25 years in marketing roles at Dow, Univar Solutions, and others. In that time, I learned the importance of attention to detail, leading teams and managing large projects with multi-million-dollar budgets. I had the opportunity to travel the world, develop speeches and presentations for CEOs and a former U.S. President, create award-winning marketing campaigns, and most importantly learned from some of the top business leaders in the chemical industry. While I enjoyed my time in the corporate world, I always wanted to do something that more directly helps improve the lives of others.
Our goal when we built our forever home near Willis, Texas, was to preserve the natural beauty around it and truly live among the trees. This is a beautiful place with some of the friendliest people around. I’m glad to be working with Jim. We share the same values, believe in doing things the right way, and bring different strengths to the table—all of which helps us take great care of our neighbors and clients.
Jim Crawford
Co-Founder
I’m a West Texas native, husband, and father of five who grew up in Midland, Texas, during the Friday Night Lights era as a wide receiver. I understand the hard preparation and discipline of two-a-days. I also bring 30 years of experience in the racing industry, including competitive racing, engine building, performance driving coaching, commercials, and military training. I’ve coached individuals ranging from celebrities and a President of the United States to some of our nation’s finest tactical military personnel. I built my career around precision, preparation, and attention to detail. These days, I’m just as likely to be found tending to my lawn or taking care of family ranch duties in Madisonville.
As a homeowner who has personally gone through the process of clearing land and preparing property to build a home, I understand the importance of doing the job right—and knowing what to look for along the way. I take pride in listening carefully to what customers want, paying attention to the details, and making sure the finished work meets or exceeds expectations. Partnering with Corey gives us the opportunity to combine our experience and shared commitment to quality to help property owners bring their vision to life.
